Humming for Bees is ceasing operations over the next few weeks and want to thank the many people who have supported us and help spread the word on the plight of pollinators. Since 2014 we have learned a lot and feel that policy from the local level, state, even federally, is as important as ever. Bees and pollinators in many ways are canaries , or indicators, of the state of our natural environment and how we participate in it. Each year more information is published on the impact of pesticides on pollinators as well as birds, mammals, aquatic life, and even the soil beneath. It is most evident that pollinator and other wildlife need healthy environment to thrive and maintain diversity. Not only is the environment we see and walk in important but, just as much, the environment beneath our feet must also be healthy to promote its important and necessary diversity. The pollinator community in Minnesota is strong and with continued support policies are being affected from small communities to state agencies to legislation.
